HealtheConnections and eHealth Technologies find success with innovative solutions

Rochester, N.Y., March 1, 2018 – HealtheConnections, the regional Health Information Exchange (HIE) serving 11 counties of central and northern New York, and eHealth Technologies, the leading provider of image-enabled HIE solutions, have teamed up to develop resources for healthcare providers to share medical images more efficiently throughout the region since 2011. This partnership is empowering providers to view diagnostic-quality medical images when and where they are needed with a single click, anywhere, anytime.

They’ve recently worked to expand these capabilities with Transfer-to-PACS, one of the growing suite of services included in the eHealth Connect® Image Exchange platform from eHealth Technologies. This solution is unlike any other image platform currently available. Tightly integrated with HIE platforms, it automates one of the most cumbersome and costly burdens borne by patients and imaging service providers alike. Accessing and importing prior imaging studies from external providers is vital in the diagnosis and treatment of critical conditions like cancer, stroke and heart disease. To learn more visit: https://ehealthtechnologies.com/products-services/image-exchange.

With Transfer-to-PACS, nearly 500 users in more than 20 HealtheConnections’ participating organizations now have just one place to go to locate, view and/or transfer critically-important external medical images from other providers. One click from the patient’s record replaces what might otherwise take several days or more, burden patients with chasing down imaging CDs from multiple locations, and waste vital clinical staff time exporting, importing and reconciling records from diverse locations –time that could be available for direct patient care. HealtheConnections participants are transferring more than 8,800 image studies per month, an increase of 600% since offering the service.

“HealtheConnections provides a unique image sharing capability, one that is only possible if it is part of a HIE or Clinical Information Network,” stated Gary Larson, Executive Vice President & General Manager of HIE Solutions for eHealth Technologies. “Only by leveraging the sophisticated community-wide master patient identifier system and patient consent protections such as those provided by HealtheConnections can these capabilities be provided with just one click.”

“The HealtheConnections’ Transfer-to-PACS option is our first source for outside images,” shares Jim Colone, Director of Ancillary Services at Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists (SOS).  “Our providers don’t want to view images from multiple outside sources on different viewers.  HealtheConnections allows us to pull those images into our PACS that the doctors are familiar with.  This makes the viewing and manipulation of images more efficient. Transfer-to-PACS allows us to see prior exams and to transfer only those pertinent to the patient’s musculoskeletal issue as opposed to having to import an entire CD that may have non-orthopedic studies on it.”

Improving the Patient and Clinician Experience

Rochester, N.Y., February 28, 2018 – eHealth Technologies, the leading provider of clinically informed referral solutions, is thrilled to announce that it has achieved the milestone of helping over 1 million patients get better and faster care because their healthcare provider utilized eHealth Technologies’ eHealth Connect® Intelligent Health Record Aggregation platform. The company is now providing its services for a quarter of a million patients a year.

eHealth Connect Intelligent Health Record Aggregation platform produces complete, intelligently organized medical records and images that are delivered into the same EMR and PACS the clinician uses every day. The platform allows for fast and easy requests for outside health information needed for referred patients via a secure web app, resulting in a complete clinically organized, indexed, and searchable medical record, images, and pathology all available prior to the patient’s visit. Plus, clinicians can navigate, with a single click, to important clinical keywords and concepts that are customized to their clinical specialty. To learn more visit: http://ehealthtechnologies.com/products-services/intelligent-health-record-aggregation

Most important are the benefits to patients which include allowing patients to just show up for their first appointment without being burdened with retrieving their medical records. Independent case studies show that patients receive faster appointments and receive treatment faster, all while providing increased efficiency to the healthcare provider, by utilizing eHealth Connect.

“It is exciting that we have reached this amazing milestone,” said Ken Rosenfeld, CEO & President, eHealth Technologies.  “Our professional staff are driven to provide a better experience and better care for the patients we ultimately serve. To know we have done this for over 1 million patients is rewarding to our entire team, and a testament to their dedication to our mission to improve healthcare delivery by providing clinically informed patient referrals.”

Sharing Images with Patients and Providers through myBaystateHealth

Rochester, N.Y., February 27, 2018 – eHealth Technologies, the leading provider of image-enabled Health Information Exchange (HIE) solutions, and Baystate Health, a not-for-profit integrated healthcare system serving nearly 1 million people across the Pioneer Valley in western New England, have announced a groundbreaking expansion of their eHealth Connect® Image Exchange medical image sharing services. Patients now have ready access to their diagnostic images and reports through myBaystateHealth, the personal health record operated by Baystate Health; and will be able to forward them to physicians and care providers of their choosing for consultations, 2nd opinions and follow-up care.

eHealth Connect Image Exchange has been incorporated into the Pioneer Valley Information Exchange (PVIX) since 2015, allowing any authorized PVIX user immediate access to view, compare, collaborate and transfer radiology and cardiology images from any hospital or imaging center in the community, on a unified, full diagnostic quality, web-based viewing platform – eHealthViewer®. Expanding these services to image-enable the myBaystateHealth patient portal was a relatively simple endeavor, yet represents one of the first initiatives in the U.S. that provides patients with ready access to their images, coupled with the ability to securely forward them to other caregivers with ease.

eHealth Technologies will be sharing more information about their eHealth Connect Image Exchange product portfolio for HIEs at HIMSS18 in Las Vegas, NV, Meeting Place Room 46, Hall G.  To schedule a time to learn more, click here: https://ehealthtechnologies.com/himss18

With diagnostic imaging consuming over 10% of all healthcare costs, and given the tremendous value that imaging plays in both diagnosing and treating many diseases, Baystate Health recognized it was imperative that access to images be included on the PVIX “One Patient. One Record” platform. PVIX allows health care providers and patients to access and securely share vital medical information electronically through a “One Patient. One Record” platform.

“We are delighted to have worked with Baystate Health on this groundbreaking new image sharing capability,” stated Gary Larson, Executive Vice President & General Manager, HIE Solutions. “Patients frequently need to send medical images and reports to other care providers for second opinions and follow-up care, which until now has been extremely cumbersome, if not impossible. Thanks to this initiative, this vital information can be made available in a few seconds, with a few clicks from the myBayStateHealth portal.”

“Any healthcare provider with access to PVIX can view, compare, collaborate and ultimately import full-fidelity diagnostic quality radiology images from any connected facility in the community with a single click,” stated Tamara Peterson, MHA, RT (R)(CT)ret, PVIX Senior Application Analyst Baystate Health – Informatics & Technology. “Not only will this speed up decision making and care planning, but it will also eliminate unnecessary duplicate imaging exams and reduce costs to patients that are otherwise necessary because an imaging study isn’t readily available.”
