When the 2017 HIMSS Conference & Exhibition comes to Orlando, attendees will find new options to consider for education, exhibition and networking, as they plan their schedules.
Where the brightest minds in health and IT meet – captures the essence of these five days with more than 350 education sessions, 1,200+ exhibitors and numerous networking events.
Our new education, exhibition and networking opportunities will equip our more than 40,000 attendees at HIMSS17 to positively transform health and healthcare through the best use of IT. Our attendees are at the core of our Annual Conference – supported not only by HIMSS, but by thousands of colleagues worldwide. Together, we can improve lives of people everywhere, and realize the vision of a transformed health system.
Registration simplicity: Registration comes to attendees this year. By preregistering before arriving in Orlando, attendees can pick up their badges at the Orlando airport and selected hotels. With this convenient addition to the registration process, attendees arrive at the Orange County Convention Center ready to go to an education session or visit the exhibition floor.
Attendees now have the option to work with a personal concierge to plan their HIMSS17 agenda and experience. Register for this service by Feb. 3 (additional fee required), to benefit from VIP services for travel, logistics and planning.
When it comes to education at HIMSS17, attendees will find can’t-miss sessions in both specialty and general education. Preconference symposia and workshops, day-long forums or programs cover relevant topics.
On Sunday, Feb. 19, HIMSS17 presents 10 symposia with 4 new topics:
Look for Business Intelligence Best Practices, a new workshop offered on Sunday.
Note: A separate fee and registration are required for symposia, workshops, forums and summit programs.
During the conference, Essential Conversation sessions will provide 20 minutes of content and 40 minutes of attendee interaction, where attendees are able to contribute to the conversations by not only hearing the experiences shared by attendees at the session, but also, by listening to multiple perspectives on the same issue. The interactive session design allows attendees to connect with and learn from one another through the conversations and experiences of their peers. In other words, those ‘essential conversations.’
Career Fair: (Tuesday, Feb. 21, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm, at the Hyatt Regency Orlando) is designed for both job seekers and employers.
Social Education Hour: (Wednesday, Feb. 22, 5:00 pm) gives attendees the opportunity to meet and network with speakers “up close and personal.”
Crowdsourced Events: YourTurn now with YourTurn Live completes this programming category.
Facility Site Visits: (Choose from either a morning tour from 7:30 am – Noon or an afternoon tour from Noon – 4:30 pm.) Select from either a morning or afternoon session where the two-hour tour will feature two stops: one at the Nemours Children’s Hospital and one at the VA SimLEARN Center on Tuesday, Feb. 21.
Of the 246 general education sessions, four new topic areas have been added:
Some session topics have been combined to both strengthen the overall approach to education as well as expand the focus to correspond with today’s healthcare setting. For example, culture of care has been added to care coordination and population health; diversity to career/workforce development; cybersecurity to privacy/security; and patient safety to quality.
