Introducing the #HIMSS17 Social Media Ambassadors - Health IT’s Conduits for Change

By Michael Gaspar, Program Manager, Social Media, HIMSS Media

For four years HIMSS has called on a class of health IT influencers to deliver a diverse and expert-driven social media experience before, during and after the HIMSS Annual Conference & Exhibition. This year for HIMSS17, we have built upon your, and our ambassadors’ feedback, to bring about a revamped version of the program – inviting some familiars back, while giving some new ambassadors the opportunity to share their unique industry perspective via their own and HIMSS’s social platforms. This year’s class represents perspectives from the:

  • Physician
  • Nurse
  • Patient
  • Health IT innovator
  • Health futurist
  • Healthcare executive
  • Health policy wonk
  • Health IT social media community leader
  • Health law expert; and more

Follow these health IT social media influencers and the #HIMSS17 conversation to contribute to a collective dialogue on closing the disparity gaps we all see in healthcare delivery – no matter your place in the ecosystem.

What can you expect to gain out of following these ambassadors, their insights, and the work they are doing with HIMSS?

Unearth a robust understanding of health IT’s challenges and opportunities

HIMSS Social Media Ambassadors are chosen for their social media savvy and unique perspectives on important health IT challenges impacting quality care delivery. Each ambassador brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and a powerful network that enables a proactive and far-reaching discussion on the issues you will see at this year’s conference and the industry at large.

Stay tuned as these ambassadors:

  • Lay out the issues they believe are pivotal to transforming the industry
  • Report on how those conversations unfold at HIMSS17
  • Provide an outlook on what needs to happen – and who needs to be involved – to enact positive movement on health IT’s opportunity to transform population health

Develop your personal framework for health IT impact

Leading up to HIMSS17, the social media ambassadors will be sharing their industry perspectives to help set the stage (both literally and figuratively) for the important discussions, via the HIMSS17 newsfeed, HIMSS LinkedIn Group discussions, Twitter chats, and more,  once we all convene in Orlando in  February.

During the show, these 20 social media aficionados will be tasked with highlighting and curating some of the best and actionable moments that capture the essence of the health IT industry as it is, how it should be, and opportunities to close the gap.

After the conference, ambassadors will provide insight, lessons learned and recommendations for progress to be made in their respective areas of expertise. From beginning to end, the HIMSS Social Media Ambassadors will be a resource in equipping and inspiring the industry to move forward – proactively and with purpose. Be sure to inspire them back by following them, engaging with them via their professional social networks listed below.
