WHERE THE WORLD
CONNECTS FOR HEALTH
As we prepare for the most exciting week of the year in health information and technology, chatter continues in many of our communities on what’s ahead at HIMSS18 compared to previous conference experiences. We are excited to see how attendees respond at HIMSS18 to the rapidly changing landscape. As two of HIMSS’s leaders, we work 52 weeks a year to deliver an experience our attendees will highly value. To that end, here’s what we think you’ll want to know as you prepare for HIMSS18.
This year, we are frequently hearing the word growth. We are focusing on the importance of it – whether you are ready to expand your knowledge in health information and technology, or explore new strategies to grow your organization through investment opportunities.
We’re seeing HIMSS18 attendance continue to grow, a trend we consider as a catalyst to expand the reach of our audience as a global conference. We’re openly embracing what has been a reality for a very long time – that HIMSS18 has relevance for health professionals around the world – for example Germany and Israel are represented on the exhibit floors in various pavilions.
Student and Early Careerist Growth Opportunities
Here at HIMSS, we realize the importance of creating a valuable conference experience for health information and technology students – they are, after all, our next generation of leaders. As a result, a new a student-only orientation session comes to HIMSS18 on Tuesday, March 6.
We’re also introducing a business case and a student case competition. In both experiences, winners will have the chance to address HIMSS18 attendees and present the findings of their case studies.
Evolutionary Exhibition Floor
Our exhibit floor has evolved with expanded specialty areas to help attendees find the solutions they need. For example, the Cybersecurity Command Center helps facilitate and bring together cyber solutions in one place, while our Innovation Live pavilion brings together start-ups, accelerators and incubators to demonstrate cutting-edge solutions.
We have expanded networking opportunities at HIMSS18 compared to previous years, because we recognized the benefits these activities offer attendees. This year, attendees will find more networking opportunities through relaxation areas, events, fireside chats and solutions labs, where attendees will have a chance to speak with experts in smaller group settings.
HIMSS18 features various types of continuing education. Health information and technology professionals can rest assured knowing that all general education topic sessions are peer-reviewed. They have undergone a thorough selection process to ensure the sessions meet various educational criteria that provide a more valuable educational experience for all.
You can find up-to-date information on education, exhibitors and networking, floor maps, news and more on the HIMSS18 mobile app. It’s available for download at the App Store or Google Play – just search HIMSS18.
We’ll also be featuring six sessions through Facebook Live to share the conference experience with an even wider audience. Help inform our educational programming by voting for your favorite sessions.
As our attendee audience continues to grow each year, we’ve looked for ways for people to more easily identify what is relevant to them. Thanks to this growth, many professionals will be attending their very first HIMSS Global Conference, for which we offer numerous services. With our 18-part webinar series, Journey to HIMSS18, attendees receive a detailed overview of education, exhibition and networking opportunities well in-advance of HIMSS18. The webinars are available on-demand so that attendees can select the topics of interest and listen at their convenience.
We encourage you to register for these free webinars, as well as exploring our schedule-at-a-glance. Both will aid attendees creating the optimal HIMSS18 experience.
