HIMSS Honors 2016 Award and Scholarship Recipients

Whether it’s a new book, a leadership award or scholarship for university studies, HIMSS honors these individuals whose personal achievements have helped improve health with information technology

Recognizing outstanding contributions to HIMSS and the field of healthcare and health IT, HIMSS named its 2016 award and scholarship recipients. The HIMSS Foundation and four HIMSS chapters provided nine scholarships to students enrolled in health IT and management systems degree programs.

“HIMSS is proud to honor individuals that have made significant contributions to our mission of improving health through the use of information technology,” said JoAnn W. Klinedinst, M.Ed., CPHIMS, PMP, DES, FHIMSS, vice president, professional development, HIMSS North America. “Congratulations to all of the award and scholarship recipients for their achievements and for their skills and expertise focused on improving health and healthcare through the best use of IT.”

“Each year, the HIMSS Foundation honors students at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels with scholarships supported by this philanthropic arm of HIMSS. The Foundation recognizes nine students with its 2016 scholarships with five scholarships supported by HIMSS chapters. Congratulations to all of these dedicated scholars for their academic achievements and their pursuit of careers in, and as future leaders of, health IT,” said Thomas M Leary,  MA, CAE, FHIMSS, executive director, HIMSS Foundation.

The nominations and subsequent award selections appear in four award categories: industry service, HIMSS service, publications and chapters.

All award and scholarship recipients will be honored at the HIMSS Awards Gala, one of the premier events held during the 2017 HIMSS Conference & Exhibition, from Feb 19-23, in Orlando, Fla., at the Orange County Convention Center.
