Dr. Richard D. Lang is the Vice President and CIO at Doylestown Hospital where he is currently managing advanced clinical automation initiatives. Prior to DH, he was a full time faculty member at Penn State University/Abington in the department of Information Sciences and Technology. He was also the principal for the independent consulting firm, Know-Power, LLC, specializing in helping healthcare organizations utilize information technology. Prior to Know-Power, Dr. Lang was the Vice President of Information Services for the Holy Redeemer Health System in Meadowbrook, PA. Some of his past accomplishments include: CPOE, EHR, and Electronic Bar-coded Medication Administration (eMAR) systems implementations; the development of mission critical clinical and administrative data repositories, population management and business intelligences reporting systems, and system integration technologies; improving physician computer and technology utilization; and introducing clinical process redesign in both acute and ambulatory care environments. He is a Fellow with the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS), Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Health Information Management (JHIM), and has published numerous articles related to Healthcare Information Technology. Dr. Lang has a B.A. from the University of the State of New York, a Masters of Science in Health Administration from St. Joseph’s University, Philadelphia, PA, and a Doctorate in Education in Computers and I.T. from Nova Southeastern University.
