Dr. Nick Patel is an internist from Columbia, South Carolina. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina Honors College and attended medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, S.C. Following medical school, Dr. Patel completed his residency in internal medicine at Orlando Regional Medical Center in Florida and Palmetto Health in Columbia, S.C. He has been at Palmetto Health for over 10 years and serves as the Medical Director of Midlands Internal Medicine. He is also the Executive Medical Director of Clinical Informatics at Palmetto Health-USC Medical Group. Dr. Patel has given multiple presentations around the country in topics ranging from Healthcare IT transformation, workflow enhancements, governance, and population health. He has managed the largest, first-of-its-kind Microsoft Surface pilot in the nation to improve workflow at Palmetto Health recently published in the International Journal of Medical Informatics. Dr. Patel has also been instrumental in the development of the Bluetooth wireless transmitter and mobile application for a healthcare startup company, IneedMD. He continues to work as a subject matter expert on multiple projects around healthcare technology with major corporations like Hewlett-Packard, Intel, Getac, and Microsoft. He has used his expertise to educate and guide hundreds of physicians with workflow enhancements using the world's largest electronic health record company, Cerner. Dr. Patel leverages his skills as a well-respected, seasoned physician and technology expert to define and articulate a unique vision on the utilization and development of technology in healthcare. He received the Microsoft Most Valuable Professional Award in 2015 and 2016.
