Breast Imaging Radiologist and Women’s Imaging Consultant
Radiologist and women’s health IT advocate, Kathryn Pearson Peyton, M.D., graduated from Stanford University, followed by medical school, Radiology residency and Breast Imaging fellowship training at the University of California San Francisco, and practiced high-volume breast imaging in San Francisco and Jacksonville, Florida, for 15 years. She is a passionate community advocate for breast cancer; three generations of her family were affected by the disease, which inspired her career choice. In 2012, she retired from her radiology practice and founded a non-profit technology company, Mammosphere, which stores and exchanges mammograms and other breast imaging studies in the cloud. This provides immediate patient and physician access to essential prior mammograms, improving accuracy of mammogram interpretations and thereby resulting in earlier detection of breast cancer while reducing unnecessary additional imaging, follow-up, patient stress and biopsies. Mammosphere was acquired by lifeIMAGE in 2016; Dr. Peyton currently serves as Chair of the Women’s Health Advisory Board at lifeIMAGE.
