John Marc Alban, MS, RN, CPHIMS is the Associate Director of Quality Measurement and Informatics at The Joint Commission. In this position, he oversees the Center for Performance Measurement where his teams work on the development and maintenance of both chart based and electronic clinical quality measures (eCQMs) designed to improve healthcare outcomes. These projects and initiatives support the accreditation and certification activities of The Joint Commission. Mr. Alban recently joined The Joint Commission after 18 years working in acute care healthcare settings in a variety of clinical and leadership roles. He is a Registered Nurse whose experience includes multiple leadership roles in health information technology and informatics, infectious disease epidemiology and a variety of clinical nursing roles. Mr. Alban has a Master of Science in Informatics from Northwestern University in Chicago and is a Certified Professional in Health Information and Management Systems. He has led multiple EHR installations and has managed several health technology projects including voice recognition, device integration and secure messaging applications. His accomplishments include multiple successful submissions for Meaningful Use for both Stage 1 and Stage 2 and leading one organization to the successful achievement of Stage 7 on the HIMSS EHR Adoption Model.
