Dr. James Langabeer, FHIMSS, PhD, is a Professor of Healthcare Management and Clinical Informatics at the University of Texas. He has served in hospital leadership at several renowned academic medical centers, led two technology startup organizations through commercialization, provided management consulting to dozens of non-profit organizations, and is a seasoned researcher and professor. Jim is the founding Chief Executive Officer of Greater Houston Healthconnect, the regional health information exchange in Southeast Texas. Jim was the HIMSS national chair for the ME-PI committee, has published a HIMSS book (Performance Improvement in Hospitals and Health Systems) and served on the editorial board for JHIM. Dr. Langabeer has published in nearly 75 academic journals, is the author of 6 books, has generated over $20 million as a principal investigator on research trials, and has a PhD in Management Science from a Financial Times Top 50 global business school in England. He is also an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and is certified as a Six Sigma/Lean Black Belt. Jim is a Fellow of HIMSS.
