Senior Counselor for Health Information Technology

James A. Cannatti III serves as the Senior Counselor for Health Information Technology in the Office of Inspector General (OIG) at he U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, D.C. As a member of OIG's senior leadership team, Mr. Cannatti spearheads development of comprehensive, OIG-wide strategies for overseeing policies and programs involving health information technology. Prior to becoming the Senior Counselor for Health Information Technology, Mr. Cannatti served as an attorney in the Industry Guidance Branch in the Office of Counsel to the Inspector General where he prepared advisory opinions and guidance materials that addressed the legality of health care arrangements under the anti-kickback statute and other Federal fraud and abuse laws. Before joining OIG, Mr. Cannatti was in private practice in Northeast Ohio.
