Dan Furlong is the Director of the Project Management Office of MUSC’s Office of the CIO, a $1.3 billion academic medical center. He is also president of PM One, the only training company in South Carolina dedicated to project management training. Dan is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), a PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), a HIMSS Fellow (FHIMSS), and a graduate of the 2008 PMI Leadership Institute Master's Program. Dan earned his BS in Computer Science, his MBA, and his Doctorate in Healthcare Administration. He has over 30 years of IT experience and over 25 years overseeing projects. In 2013 Dan co-authored a groundbreaking textbook, Healthcare Project Management, which is used in undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate programs across the nation. He also authored and published PMP Last Chance Review, a PMP student aid. Dan served on The Citadel's Masters in Project Management Advisory Committee and on Walden University’s Project Management Advisory Council, and taught within The Citadel’s Masters in Project Management (MSPM) program. He also taught within the MUSC College of Nursing and as a guest lecturer at the College of Charleston. Dan is currently an adjunct faculty member at MUSC’s College of Health Professions, where he teaches in two different graduate programs. He is also an Affiliated Faculty member of the College of Charleston’s School of Sciences and Mathematics' Computer Science department. Dan is actively involved in the local Project Management Institute chapter where he has served on the board for 10 of the past 11 years, and is currently serving as President. He is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences on the topic of Project Management, Healthcare Technology, and Healthcare Analytics.
