Description

With so many products and services at their fingertips, consumers are looking to industries like healthcare to provide a similar level of ease, convenience and speed. But for healthcare, it’s more challenging; healthcare is a complex, high-trust relationship between the provider and consumer. As an integrated healthcare system, Kaiser Permanente is working to implement a holistic model of healthcare that is transforming this relationship. The model puts the consumer at the center of how we deliver on our mission of providing high-quality, affordable care. Kaiser Permanente is bringing design and technology together in our medical facilities to transform how members experience in-person care, as well as providing ways for members to engage digitally, anytime and anywhere, to manage their health. Done right, these pieces come together to form a connected, end-to-end experience that improves consumers’ health as well as the cost and quality of healthcare.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain how changing industry dynamics and consumer demand are creating the need for a new model for healthcare
  • Describe the elements that need to combine to create a holistic, end-to-end, connected model
  • Demonstrate how Kaiser Permanente has created a new model for healthcare by placing the consumer in the center and merging technology innovation with physical design and workflows
