Standard Health Records: The Legal and Policy Challenges

In a movement toward a U.S. standard health record, innovators will face challenges related to interoperability and to the regulatory construct within which health records exist. The array of laws and regulations that govern the sharing of health data can appear an insurmountable challenge to implementation. This presentation will provide an overview of the laws and rules that affect a future U.S. standard health record, as well as strategies for leveraging the regulatory structure to move this endeavor forward.
