Description

In 2011 Sentara Princess Ann Hospital was built, including a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with private and semi-private rooms. The new layout would reduce the spread of infectious diseases and provide more privacy but it would create challenges for nurses to hear and see active patient monitors and ventilator alarms. This began a journey to implement an intelligent alarm management system that would notify caregivers of patient events without disrupting workflows or creating unwanted noise.
