Description

During this educational event, a multi-stakeholder panel will share reactions and commentary on newly released survey data from the HIMSS Interoperability & HIE Community on different organizations’ approaches to health information exchange (HIE). Panelists will discuss perceptions of community HIE, enterprise HIE and vendor-mediated strategies in terms of: 1) effect on participation in other types of HIE; 2) effect on market dynamics; 3) relationship to DIRECT Secure Messaging and vendor mediated exchange; 4) effect on quality, and 5) support for population and public health. Discussion will include areas of diverging viewpoints and areas of agreement. Ultimately, the panel will suggest concrete steps the healthcare community can undertake to improve exchange efforts and to foster better collaboration. Come join this highly interactive session and hear from industry leaders to see if they agree or disagree with the findings!
