Description

As defined by Meaningful Use, the first step in patient engagement was to enable patients with electronic access to their data from the EHR, known as view, download and transmit (VDT). To meet this requirement, many EHR vendors and providers utilized patient portals to enable patient access to data including lab results, appointments, prescriptions and even open notes. Due to the expectations of accountable care to achieve greater efficiencies, recent surveys indicate a need to empower consumers to interact at a greater level with the healthcare system. As a result, innovative companies and provider organizations are launching platforms to leverage the power of integrated views of new information through big data and enhance communication.. This session will explore how the next chapter of patient engagement will evolve the new healthcare experience.
