Next-Generation IT Governance: Fully Integrated and Operationally-Led

February 22, 2017 — 10:00AM EST - 11:00AM EST
Orange County Convention Center
303A
Session ID:
310

Description

The increasingly complex nature of today’s healthcare environment makes effective governance more essential than ever. Challenges raised by issues such as the extension of IT systems to community partners and increased rates of mergers and acquisitions have rendered traditional approaches to IT governance disconnected and inoperative. IS-led IT governance, still the norm in most organizations, only frustrates efforts to link committees, coordinate responsibilities and properly distribute authorities. The solution to those challenges is a holistic approach to IT governance that allows for optimization of systems and resources to ultimately improve healthcare outcomes.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain the importance of a clinician and operational leadership led IT governance program
  • Recognize that governance is fluid and therefore there will be a need for periodical program reviews to assess what is working and what is not; and to make changes
  • Compare prior governance program issues and the need for change
  • Defend the importance of a team effort at all levels to make the new governance program work putting the right people in the right level governance council with appropriate roles and responsibilities

Audience:

C-Suite
Physician, CMO, CMIO
