Navigating the Gray Areas: Outpatient/Inpatient Hybrids

3:00pm - 4:00pm Thursday, March 8
Las Vegas - Venetian Convention Center
Palazzo L

Description

As Health Systems expand their care delivery style, more hybrid clinics are forming. How do Informatics teams determine which inpatient vs. outpatient EHR these clinics document in, and how do they decide what needs to be documented? Come learn our process for customizing existing systems to meet the needs of a procedural pain clinic, therapy based Hand Center, and Heart Failure Clinic. Starting with identification of reimbursement and moving through workflows and regulatory requirements, this session highlights our patient centered process for integrating clinical documentation.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize there are clinics that do not fit in inpatient or outpatient documentation platforms
  • Formulate a process on which EHR is appropriate for identified hybrid clinics
  • Describe how reimbursement drives EHR decision making
  • Discuss the journey from paper documentation to electronic documentation for an offsite procedural area
