Business associate relationships are vital to the management of electronically-protected health information. New and expanding relationships bring increased challenges to both the business associate and related covered entity. Implementing processes and technologies to ensure the overall security of sensitive data and compliance with HIPAA regulations is a new burden to many business associates and requires different skill sets that often are not in place. This session will describe what steps can be taken by business associates to secure data and what to do in the event of a data breach.
