Description

Join HP Inc. for a HIMSS17 Lunch & Learn

Presented by:
Shannon Walters, MS, RT (R) (MR)
3DLab Manager, Stanford

Join Shannon Walters of Stanford’s 3DQ Lab as he discusses how interactive virtual reality has been fully integrated into the informatics infrastructure (PACS/VNA) of Stanford and applied to support both radiologists and surgeons in pediatric congenital heart defect and cerebral arterial venous malformations (AVM’s) clinical trials and acute patient treatment.

Preliminary studies demonstrate that advanced interactive virtual reality enhances visual cognition of anatomic relationships and can play a key role in clinical decision making and surgical technique, as well as enhance patient communication.

At the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Describe the ways in which 3D imaging improves clinical outcomes
  • Describe the role that 3D technology plays in fostering interdisciplinary communication
  • Recite the benefits that interactive virtual reality has on patient engagement
  • List the critical factors involved in the adoption of 3D medical imaging solutions
  • Compare and contrast the value and application of 2D and 3D medical imaging data analysis

Lunch and refreshments will be served.
