Description

This session provides an update on progress made on the Shared Nationwide Interoperability Roadmap (published by the Office of the National Coordinator ONC, HHS) that outlined key building blocks for nationwide exchange of health information. The Roadmap is assessed within developing policies including payment reform in context of MACRA rule.

Learning Objectives: 

  • Explain key updates from “2017 Interoperability Roadmap” and their alignment with the MACRA rule
  • Demonstrate how stakeholders can prepare for policy changes resulting from the Roadmap update
  • Identify the key changes in interoperability standards that will occur over the next five years and explain impact to vendor and provider communities
  • Describe the how key interoperability metrics can be used in the assessment of the utility of exchanged health data and improved clinical outcomes
  • Appraise how the Roadmap will shape future policy-making at the ONC
