WHERE THE BRIGHTEST MINDS in health and IT meet.
February 19-23, 2017
While CIOs often hear about how better health data interoperability will improve outcomes and overall quality of care, the benefits are often stated as vague theoreticals. A use case for interoperability directly improving care quality lies in mammography--cloud-based mammogram image exchange networks provide secure, patient-portable accessibility of prior exams for more accurate interpretation of exams and improved patient outcomes at reduced costs. With increased availability of prior exams, which are essential for accurate interpretation of new mammograms because each patient’s breast tissue is unique, quality of patient care and outcomes are improved, along with patient satisfaction. This interactive, educational session will share an interoperability use case in mammography, discuss how this model can be applied to other imaging-intensive specialties and how to develop enterprise-friendly medical image-sharing implementations that will pay dividends for patient outcomes.
