HIMSS17 TOOK PLACE IN ORLANDO, FL
February 19-23, 2017
As Stanford Children’s Health was expanding into a regional integrated Pediatric Health Care delivery system in 2010-2011, Dr Kennedy was faced with the challenge of covering subspecialty surgical services and clinics at three regional hubs (North Bay, East Bay & South Bay). Patients were pleased with the care in the community but access was limited due to the time consumed in travel by the physician and the infrequent on site clinics. To remedy this problem, Dr Kennedy turned to digital technology and deployed Cisco’s Health Presence throughout his care network in 2013. As an early adopter of Cisco's video technology, he has seen over a thousand patients and their families. Dr Kennedy has developed workflows that allow his patients to visit their local clinic and work with his assistant to conduct a confidential visit with physical exam, while he remains on the Stanford campus in Palo Alto. This saves the families hours of travel time, reduces cost, and improves access. In 2016, Dr Kennedy was one of the first clinicians to start using Cisco's Extended Care solution which allows him to work within the EPIC medical record allowing him better access to his schedule, their on line integrated billing, and a new virtual waiting room. Dr. Kennedy continues to expand his Telehealth clinics in northern California and has recently expanded across state lines into Nevada. Over the 4 years, Dr Kennedy has witnessed improved patient satisfaction with the use of Cisco video solutions. He will share how his systems have evolved, lessons learned, and the results of his hard work with amazing outcomes.
