EMS represents the number one referral source for most hospitals. Interoperability between EMS and hospital data systems offers major advancement potential for continuity of care, quality management, provider learning and business intelligence, while decreasing cost of data abstraction, increasing process efficiency and expanding alignment between care venues. This session will review two regional interoperability case studies, outlining the problems to be solved, stakeholder alignment, the technical solution linking multiple hospital and EHR vendors and the results. The return on investment and future vision of the two projects will be discussed.
