Learning Health System Symposium: Exploring the Intersection of Learning and Clinical Innovation in an Integrated Healthcare Organization
Exploring the Intersection of Learning and Clinical Innovation in an Integrated Healthcare Organization
A fundamental aspect of operationalizing a learning health care system (LHCS) is developing new, and utilizing existing, technologies and advanced analytics. By integrating health information technology (HIT) at the point of care, healthcare systems aim to improve the quality of care, increase provider and patient experience, and generate knowledge. Transitioning from concept to practical application of a LHCS presents many challenges and relies on broad and deep partnerships across the health system. This symposium will present an approach for clinical innovation that results in rapid, and continuous learning by leveraging informatics, clinical implementation, and HIT advancements for clinical innovation.
- Explain the features and outcomes of a learning healthcare system
- Identify key elements of clinical innovation that are integral to a learning healthcare system
- Identify the strategies and infrastructure needed to implement a range of HIT learning activities
- Utilize new knowledge in developing their own practice within HIT and build collaborations among others within their professional practice to advance innovation knowledge generation
