Where the brightest minds in health and IT STRATEGIZE

Tom is the CEO of a large hospital system, where he leads organizational strategy and change, acting as a liaison between operations and the board of directors. He directs and executes the system’s activities, budgets and goals, as well as its day-to-day operations, resources, systems and services. His visionary leadership, strategic decision making and commitment to innovation greatly impact the care and outcomes of his patients.

Tom must continually strategize on a broad scale, surrounded by perpetual change both within his hospital system and the landscape of health IT. Working collaboratively with his board and his staff, he is concerned with:

  • Managing financial challenges, including making the shift towards value-based care, Medicaid and Medicare reimbursement, bad debt, and reducing operating costs amid increasing costs for staff and supplies
  • Engaging physicians to deliver quality patient care safely and efficiently, to reduce unnecessary tests and procedures, and to redesign care processes and work environments
  • Implementing and sharing best practices to maintain the security of data captured in EHRs
  • Adapting to federal, state and local regulations and mandates, including ICD-10, CMS audits, CMS regulations, and compliance demonstration
  • Recruiting and retaining the right talent, and managing personnel shortages
  • Driving and building revenue growth by developing new business strategies to improve performance
  • Identifying the right technology and strategies to capitalize on current and anticipated market changes

Tom knows that his staff, board of directors and patients all rely on his ability to strategize and lead through constant change, informed by the latest advances in health IT, in order to continue to positively transform health and lives.

At HIMSS17, Tom will connect with colleagues and other leaders who understand his challenges, as he continues to make strategic decisions to succeed in his current responsibilities and anticipate future priorities. He will find 300+ education programs, 1,200+ vendors, hundreds of special programs, and limitless networking opportunities – all designed to equip him to navigate the ever-changing, challenging world of health IT.
