Dan Hesse has been named Wireless Industry "Person of the Year" by RCR magazine, "Executive of the Year" by Wireless Business and Technology magazine, "Most Influential Person in Mobile Technology" by LAPTOP Magazine, and he received Wireless Week magazine's Leadership Award. He was named chief executive officer of Sprint Nextel in 2007. Prior to his appointment as Sprint CEO, he was Chairman and CEO of Embarq Corporation, a $6 billion voice, data, wireless and entertainment services company. He also served as Chairman, President and CEO of Terabeam Corporation, a wireless telecommunications service provider and technology company.

Mr. Hesse spent 23 years at AT&T, the last three as President and CEO of AT&T Wireless Services. He also held positions as the leader of AT&T’s Online Services Group, President and CEO of AT&T Network Systems International, as well as AT&T management assignments in Network Operations, Network Engineering, International Services, Human Resources, Strategic Planning, Product Management and Sales.

National Coordinator for Health Information Technology

David Blumenthal, MD, MPP, was appointed on March 20, 2009, as the Obama Administration’s choice to serve as the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology. As National Coordinator, he leads the implementation of a nationwide interoperable, privacy-protected health information technology infrastructure.

Dr. Blumenthal previously served as a physician and as the director of the Institute for Health Policy at The Massachusetts General Hospital/Partners HealthCare System in Boston, Massachusetts. He was also the Samuel O. Thier Professor of Medicine and Professor of Health Care Policy at Harvard Medical School.

From 1987 to1991 he was Senior Vice President at Boston’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a 720-bed Harvard teaching hospital. Prior, he was Executive Director of the Center for Health Policy and Management and Lecturer on Public Policy at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard. During the late 1970s, Dr. Blumenthal was a professional staff member on Senator Edward Kennedy’s Senate Subcommittee on Health and Scientific Research. He served as chief health adviser to the Dukakis Presidential campaign, and a senior health adviser to the Obama for President campaign.

 Dr. Sanjay Gupta has achieved celebrity status as CNN’s medical and health expert. He can be seen on daily segments, House Call with Dr. Sanjay Gupta on weekends, and breaking medical news. Dr. Gupta also co-hosts Accent Health for Turner Private Networks, provides medical news spots for ER on TNT, contributes health stories to CNN.com, writes a column for Time magazine, and produces a weekly podcast called Paging Dr. Gupta. He is also a strong advocate for healthy living and created CNN’s first ongoing, multi-platform program to fight obesity entitled “Fit Nation.”

In addition to his media career, Dr. Gupta is also a practicing neurosurgeon and an assistant professor of neurosurgery. He is the recipient of several prestigious awards and author of Chasing Life – New Discoveries in the Search for Immortality to Help You Age Less.

 Harry Markopolos is a former securities industry executive turned independent financial fraud investigator for institutional investors and others seeking forensic accounting expertise. He will be forever known as both hero and whistle-blower in the investment community for bringing down the biggest Ponzi scheme in history, involving Bernard Madoff and a multi-billion dollar fraud.

Mr. Markopolos became accredited as a Chartered Financial Analyst in 1996. By 2002, he had risen through the ranks to become the Chief Investment Officer at Rampart Investment Management Company. He left the industry in 2004 to pursue fraud investigations fulltime against Fortune 500 companies – targeting financial and healthcare businesses. The Bernie Madoff investigation, which he started in early 2000, was his first fraud case. He’s been hooked ever since.

Currently, as a Certified Fraud Examiner, Mr. Markopolos brings fraud cases to the US Department of Justice and the Internal Revenue Service under existing whistleblower bounty programs. At HIMSS10, he will focus on Medicare fraud. During an interview with Dr. Gupta, Mr. Markopolos will examine fraud and the $500 billion Medicare program.

Founder and CEO, Safety Reliability Methods

Chesley B. "Sully" Sullenberger, III is the heroic pilot who masterfully landed US Airways Flight 1549 on the Hudson River and saved the lives of 155 people. Captain of what has been dubbed the “Miracle on the Hudson,” he is a recognized pioneer and expert in safety, high performance, high reliability, leadership and culture change. He is the founder and chief executive officer of Safety Reliability Methods, a consulting company dedicated to management, safety, performance and reliability expertise.

Capt. Sullenberger graduated from the United States Air Force Academy and served as a fighter pilot from 1975 to 1980. He advanced to become a flight leader and a training officer. After serving in the Air Force, he became a commercial airline pilot and has more than 40 years of flying experience.

In 2009, he authored, Highest Duty: My Search for What Really Matters and was named one of TIME’s 100 most influential people.
