This program has been approved for use in fulfilling the continuing education renewal requirements of the Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS). This program has been approved for use in fulfilling the continuing education renewal requirements of the Certified Associate in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CAHIMS). Participants may claim CAHIMS continuing education credit electronically at designated locations throughout the conference center.

CHCIOCHCiO

This program qualifies for non-CHIME Continuing Education Units (CEU) towards the CHIME Certified Healthcare CIO (CHCIO) Program. CHIME recognizes 1 hour of participation as equivalent to 1 CEU. CHIME members and Affiliates may claim their CEUs by entering them into the Self Reporting Tool on the CHIME website.

Target Audience
This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of a range of clinicians with an interest in health information technology who encompass various clinical specialties.

Educational Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to implement healthcare IT and management systems through improved workflow and process improvement methodology.
  • Identify issues that impact patient safety and security in the healthcare enterprise and ambulatory practice.
  • Discuss issues that impact the future of health care information management such as:  improvement of patient safety, implementation of electronic record keeping, and healthcare legislation and regulation.
