According to a Bipartisan Policy Center Health Information Technology Initiative survey, new accountable, patient-centered care models will require a seamless and safe exchange of information. That same survey reported that 70 percent of clinicians felt that the lack of and costs associated with interoperability and an HIE infrastructure were the major barriers to EHR sharing.
