Knowledge Centers

The Knowledge Centers are located on the show floor and are designed to bring a one-stop experience to the HIMSS13 attendees based around the three hot topics listed below. The Knowledge Centers will bring HIMSS peer-reviewed education sessions, exhibitor case study presentations, Meet the Experts area, exhibition booths, HIMSS resources and networking to one area.

Look for these three powerhouses of more than 60 education and vendor solution sessions, in addition to resources such as one-on-one time with industry experts and exhibition companies with targeted products. The three Knowledge Centers are:

  • Mobile Health — Booth 8247
    Advances in and access to mobile and wireless technologies provide unprecedented opportunities to change patient engagement and the delivery of healthcare globally. Topic focus includes discussion of critical milestones that are needed to take mobile technologies from present use cases, technical specifications and pilot demonstrations to full adoption, deployment and convergence, as well as data exchange issues using mobile technologies and workflow issues, spanning the ambulatory setting, the acute setting and other healthcare settings where mobile health technology is leveraged.
  • Clinical & Business Analytics/Intelligence — Booth 869
    Topics in this category feature provider- and payer-focused best practices, lessons learned and other tools and resources that help health organizations, regardless of size, understand the business aspects across historical, current and predictive analysis, using processing, benchmarking, data mining and other aspects. Clinical and business intelligence should be used to enable interoperability, patient safety and quality outcomes. Topics include: data warehousing (design and framework); data validation (data integration and cleansing and data analysis); reporting of clinical and business analytics (data presentation (scorecards)); clinical and business intelligence for ACO’s, practices and enterprise and community hospitals (benchmarking of data); secondary use of data (healthcare and life sciences); and predictive modeling.
  • ICD-10 — Booth 4581
    Exhibitors will display products and services that provide end-users, other vendors and payers with the ability to prepare for, and successfully navigate, the transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10. Education sessions focus on tutorials around timeline, process, roles and responsibilities, avoiding pitfalls, assessments and training.
